Hello, I’m Pete. You may have known that before you arrived here, or perhaps you’re new, in which case, “Hello, I’m Pete”. It’s also entirely possible that you are not a you at all, but a bot looking for trouble. If you came to train your AI model you may as well turn around now; unless you’re here to create a creepy digital clone that outlives me, a bit like that episode from Black Mirror, you’ll be bitterly disappointed.
Anyway, that’s the pleasantries out of the way.
During the process of making this site someone asked, “Pete, who is it for?”, to which I said I had no idea, but it felt like a good idea. In many way it’s as much a place for me to gather my various professional (and not so professional) interests and opinions into one place.
I am under no illusion that my words carry any weight, or will be of the slightest of interest to the majority of visitors, but for those seeking the dubious wisdom of a thirty-something designer, slash entrepreneur, slash christian, slash amateur comedian, slash self-confessed over-thinker… you’re welcome.
What you’ll find below is the digital equivalent of a rudimentary telephone automation system. Whether you came to find out more about my disability-tech startup Indii; you got wind of my new-found love for making prog house versions of nursery rhymes; or someone really proper and grown up told you I’m a good person to speak to about building you an app I hope you’ll be able to find what you need.
If you want to reach out to me directly the best ways are either via the contact form at the bottom of this page, or by swooping/slipping/sliding/lunging into my DMs over on Instagram. I might ignore you the first time, so don’t be afraid to be persistent, and maybe don’t start the message with “Hello Dear”.
I did write another whole paragraph, but honestly it was mostly a load of needless waffle, so I think I’ll leave it there. Thanks for stopping by.
Lots of love! PB x
I am the founder of disability-tech startup, Indii. Developing technologies to enable people with disabilities to live with greater independence, Indii’s first product is an adaptive smart controller for the home, providing the tools for people to be able to benefit from the use of smart home technology. Founder Hope is a brand-new podcast which explores the place of hope within founders’ journeys. Each week I speak with entrepreneurs and pioneers about the realities of startup life, and encourage others within the wider startup community to share their wins, their losses, their learnings and their frustrations. Coming soon.
Every month I set aside ten days to work on non-Indii projects. I’m a no-code/low-code app developer, with more than a decade of professional experience in engineering and design. I’ve spent the last three years primarily working in disability tech. Tap-through to check out some of the previous projects I’ve worked on.
My mind is a mess of creative ideas spanning music, comedy, technology, impact, design, faith, mental health and more. And I guess that’s what makes me Pete Beckett! Think of this as a repository which serves as an outlet for my many ideas to help me to stay focused on the most important work! Enjoy!
